LONDON SUNDIAL COMPASS
London sundial compass. This beautiful compass is a reproduction of those made in the 18th and 19th centuries for the British Royal Navy.
It consists of two independent pieces that together form the circular case that you can see in the photograph. The piece that contains the universal sundial folds, turns and screws together, leaving a totally compact metal box made of brass.
This piece is an equatorial sundial. This type of sundial is characterized by having the particularity of being universal, since thanks to its graduated scale, we can place the reading quadrant at the latitude of the place where we are, regardless of the hemisphere in which we are. If it were in the south, we simply have to orient it in the opposite direction, that is, South-North.
It is also equipped with a highly precise compass essential to be able to orient it on the North-South meridian.
It comes in a beautiful leather case, which gives it a fantastic presentation to make the best gift for friends of the sea and astronomy, and we also send simple instructions with which to learn how to use it.
