PRAGA ASTRONOMIC CLOCK

The astronomical quadrant is shaped like an astrolabe, an instrument used in medieval astronomy and navigation until the invention of the sextant. It has representations of the Earth and the sky painted on it, as well as the elements that surround it, especially by four main components: the zodiacal ring, the rotation ring, the icon that represents the sun and the icon that represents the moon. .

BASE

The base represents the Earth and the local view of the sky and the blue circle in the center represents our planet and the darker blue the view of the sky from the horizon. The red and black areas indicate the parts of the sky that are above the horizon. During the day the sun is in the blue zone in the background, during sunrise and sunset it is in the red zone, while at night it is in the dark zone. To the left of the clock (the east), we find the aurora and the dawn; while in the west we find sunset and twilight.

It is presented in a beautiful wooden case, very suitable for making a perfect gift and is accompanied by a small brochure in which a historical overview of the mechanical watch is given.
