Description

BAROQUE HOURGLASS

Baroque hourglass. Since the beginning of time, mankind has had the need to measure time. The first agricultural civilizations created the first calendars to set the periods of sowing and harvesting. However, the need for more precise instruments soon became apparent.

The first hourglass in history was created by the ancient Egyptians, which was named clepsydra or water clock. Later, in the 2nd century AD, Middle Eastern scholars developed the sundial.

It is not known for certain where and how the hourglass was born, but evidence indicates that its origin dates back to the 7th century.

OUR MODEL

This type of hourglass could be found in studies and offices throughout Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries. Very similar examples have also been found in schools and religious institutions in the colonies that depended on the Spanish crown throughout Latin America, due to the great trade that was generated between both continents in these centuries.

It is made of wood that is very resistant to temperature changes.

It is a very appropriate gift for bookstores or cozy spaces to which it will add a classic, very decorative air.

Includes a small brochure with a historical overview of the hourglass.
