This type of hourglass could be found in studies and cabinets throughout Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries. Very similar specimens have also been found in schools and religious institutions in the colonies that depended on the Spanish crown throughout Latin America, due to the great trade that was generated between both continents in these centuries.
