COMPASS WAY OF ST. JAMES
Compass Way of St. James. The compass is an instrument used for orientation, by means of a magnetized needle that points to the magnetic North, which is slightly different for each area of the planet, and different from the geographic North. It uses the Earth’s magnetism as a means of operation. The magnetized needle indicates the direction of the Earth’s magnetic field, pointing towards the North and South Poles. The compass works in any area of the world, except in the North and South polar areas, due to the convergence of the lines of force of the Earth’s magnetic field.
This compass is a replica of those used in the 16th century by walkers, pilgrims and adventurers. The complementary needle it carries allowed them to find any of the 32 directions of the compass rose. Handcrafted from top quality pine wood, stained in walnut and polished with natural waxes. The fittings are made of brass. The illustrations are the same as those of the classic Renaissance compasses. It is accompanied by a small booklet with the history of the compass.
It is presented in two formats depending on its cover:
-Brass plate engraved with a compass rose
-Printed on paper with the same compass rose
