KELVIN SUNDIAL
Kelvin sundial. This is a Horizontal sundial made of solid brass.
In these sundials the surface on which the shadow is projected is a horizontal plane and they are usually placed as a decorative element on tables or gardens, sometimes the ground itself being where the time lines are drawn. They have an advantage, rarely mentioned, over other types of sundial and that is that they are the only flat surface clocks that record all the hours of sunlight on any day of the year. Whenever it is sunny they will indicate the time.
It is dedicated to Willian Thonsom, Lord Kelvin (1824-1907), famous British physicist and mathematician who stood out fundamentally in the study of thermodynamics and electricity, thanks to his deep knowledge of mathematical analysis.
He is especially known for having developed the Kelvin temperature scale. He received the title of Baron Kelvin in honor of the achievements made throughout his career.
It comes in a small leather case and is accompanied by a small booklet with the history of the sundial and how it works.
It is a perfect gift for lovers of astronomy and science
