MINI LIPPERSHEY SPYGLASS
Mini Lippershey Spyglass. A spyglass is a monocular optical instrument used to see distant objects up close. It comprises an optical lens and an eyepiece, usually placed in a sliding tube. It differs from a terrestrial telescope in that the latter has a greater range.
At first it was widely used by sailors and pirates (we all have in our memory the old Hollywood films with a pirate observing the next victim with a spyglass) although later it also began to be used by travellers and naturalists, for example ornithologists often make good use of this instrument in their observations.
This beautiful spyglass is a miniature reproduction of those used by the Royal Navy throughout the 17th and 18th centuries.
It is profusely worked in leather and from a practical point of view it has a very limited use, since its degree of magnification, given its small length, is very low and is recommended for the little ones, since its pirate telescope appearance will transport them in their imagination to all the adventures seen in the films of this genre.
It comes in a beautiful leather case with a strap so that it can be carried attached to the belt loops of the trousers.
